What is watermarking in Azure Virtual Desktop?
Watermarking in Azure Virtual Desktop is a feature designed to help prevent sensitive information from being captured on client endpoints. When enabled, it displays QR code watermarks as part of remote desktops, which contain the Connection ID or Device ID of a remote session. This allows administrators to trace sessions effectively.
What are the requirements for enabling watermarking?
To enable watermarking, you need a Microsoft Entra ID account with the Desktop Virtualization Host Pool Contributor role, a client that supports watermarking (such as Windows Desktop version 1.2.3317 or later, macOS version 10.9.5 or later, or iOS/iPadOS version 10.5.4 or later), and Azure Virtual Desktop Insights configured for your environment.
How can I view session information from the QR code?
To view session information from the QR code, you can use Azure Virtual Desktop Insights or query Azure Monitor Log Analytics. In Azure Virtual Desktop Insights, sign in and navigate to the Connection Diagnostics tab to find connection details. Alternatively, in Log Analytics, run a query using the connection ID from the QR code to retrieve specific session information.
