What is Watermarking in Azure Virtual Desktop?
Watermarking in Azure Virtual Desktop is an optional feature designed to enhance security by acting as a deterrent against data leakage. It works alongside screen capture protection to prevent sensitive information from being captured on client endpoints. The watermark consists of QR codes that display the session user's Activity ID, which helps enterprises trace potential data leaks.
How do I enable Watermarking support?
To enable watermarking support in Azure Virtual Desktop, you need to download and add administrative templates for Azure Virtual Desktop. This feature is configured at the session-host level and is enforced on the client. It's important to note that watermarking is currently supported only on the Microsoft Remote Desktop Client for desktops and web.
What are the benefits of using Watermarking?
The primary benefit of watermarking is its role as a deterrent against unauthorized data sharing. By displaying QR codes that embed the session user's Activity ID, organizations can enhance traceability and identify potential sources of data leaks. Additionally, watermarking complements the existing screen capture protection, further securing sensitive information displayed during remote sessions.
