Read this article to find out how to access and use this new capability.
What is Personal Desktop Autoscale?
Personal Desktop Autoscale is a native scaling solution in Azure Virtual Desktop that automatically manages session host virtual machines based on user activity. It can start or shut down virtual machines according to a defined schedule or user session state, helping to save costs by deallocating idle session hosts.
How do I enable Personal Desktop Autoscale?
To enable Personal Desktop Autoscale, you need to create a personal scaling plan in the Azure portal. You can define settings such as whether to start the VM on user connection and what action to take after a user session is disconnected or logged off. This can be configured across four phases in a day and assigned to one or more personal host pools.
Is there an additional cost for using Personal Desktop Autoscale?
No, Personal Desktop Autoscale is included as part of the Azure Virtual Desktop service and does not incur any additional costs, similar to the pooled scaling plans that were introduced previously.
